Here’s a Question I get asked a lot:
What are the email service providers that you use/ would recommend? I am currently on Mailchimp, on their free plan. I am wondering if I should change to a paid service. Any recommendations?
–>In today’s quick changing world people will forget who you are pretty quick.
- If you only send out monthly newsletters
- and you’re doing this using Mailchimp
- and therefore your emails end up under the Promotions tab in Gmail
= you’re doing yourself a disservice.
You won’t get the -opens -clicks -engagement you’ll need for your art-business, because people might not ‘see’ your emails in their inbox.
Plus people forget about you when they don’t receive a few more (specific (tag based) & automated) emails from you after first ‘finding you’. Once a month is not enough.
–>You’ll need a bit of Follow up with new ‘Leads’. You can do this using Tagging and Sequencing.
This is not part of the free Mailchimp service.
If you have little to no room to spend money on an email service provider, I recommend you go with: Convertkit.
Convertkit is $29 per month for 1000 peeps on your list. (Go here to check them out.) With Convertkit you get a lot for the lowest cost per month.
Other good options would be Drip, Ontraport, Active Campaign, Infusionsoft, Aweber, the paid version of Mailchimp and so on.
(I’ve used Mailchimp, Ontraport, Convertkit and Drip myself. I liked Ontraport the best, but they’re too expensive. It adds up.)
While frugality is a good thing, it isn’t a good thing to ‘save’ on the crucial things, like communication with (future) customers, the ability to tag based upon interest, and so on. A business invests in growth. Painters do invest in paint, but are shiverish when it comes to investing in the business itself. Not good!
